Fruit Growing Information Sharing

This section of the VABF website promotes the free exchange of information for amateurs and others in Virginia and similar climate zones, who wish to produce excellent fruit for the family, while respecting the environment.

Look here for announcements of meetings and links to other gatherings and events of interest to fruit growers (and wannabes). Examples might include winter variety and planning workshops, spring grafting, summer events like orchard tours, and fall fruit tasting tours. The objective is to share ideas, learn about fruit growing and to network with others who have similar interests.

To subscribe to the occasional newsletter, send an email to Barbara Rosholdt. The Info Sharing group is currently looking for ideas of fun ways to learn about fruit. Possible events include pruning, grafting, fruit culture and orchard planning workshops, fruit tastings, orchard visits, resource search, organics, mid-Atlantic challenges, and container growing of fruit plants. We dubbed it the “Mid-Atlantic Fruit Group” (MAFG).

There is no formal membership, however all are invited to attend a Fruit Growing Session at the annual VABF conference (each year in late winter) to share information about fruit culture and use.
